History

This institute was started in the year 2001-02 by the Department of Industry Government of Himachal Pradesh with the aim to provide vocational training to large number of rural youth of Saliana Tehsil of Kangra District. Initially the Institution was started with Two trades, in a rented building Near Handolpat Panchrukhi.
All the course /trades of the Institution are affiliated to National Council for Vocational Training, Govt. of India, New Delhi. The examination ( known as All India Final Trade Test) are conducted by the body NCVT, Govt. of India, New Delhi through Himachal Pradesh Takniki Shiksha Board, Dharamshala. The training programme in the State is looked after/governed by the SCVT with Directorate at Sunder Nagar, Distt. Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. The Central Govt. has introduced schemes namely

  • Upgrading ITIs through Public Private Partnership mode (PPP Mode)
  • Modular Employable Skills (MES)through skill development initiative scheme.

This institute is covered under PPP mode for up gradation. MES scheme is also being implemented by this institute in letter & spirit.
